For trench laying metal bellows, when the compensators installed pipeline low-lying, rain or accident sewage will soak corrugated tube, in the selection of corrosion resistant and stronger materials should be considered, such as iron nickel alloy, high nickel alloys. Due to the high price of such materials, in the manufacturing of metal bellows, it can be considered only in contact with the corrosive medium to increase the surface layer of corrosion resistant alloy.

 
 
The fatigue life design is made up of the failure types and causes of bellows compensator. The plane stability, circumferential stability and corrosion resistance are related to the displacement and the fatigue life. The low fatigue life will lead to the decrease of the stability and corrosion resistance of the bellows. According to the test and working experience, the bellows fatigue life of heating engineering should be not less than 1000 times. Most of the failure of the bellows is caused by the external environment corrosion, so the structure design of the compensator can be considered to isolate the contact between the external corrosion media and the bellows.
